Middle School Students Flood Indianapolis Motor Speedway

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) was filled with smiling, curious, & excited faces as middle school students took a field trip to the historic racetrack.

1,400 middle school students took the trip to Speedway to learn more about IndyCar & Motorsports as we countdown to the Indianapolis 500.

Surprisingly, a good amount of students have never stepped foot inside of IMS, & were thrilled at the opportunity to learn about the annual race that takes their hometown by storm.

Darren Thomas, District Director of Athletics for IPS, reflected; “I’ve talked to 20-30 kids & adults who have never been here, & it is right in their backyard, so it is a really awesome experience to get our kids out here to learn about STEM & how it impacts motorsports. It is a great day for us here.”

The day at the racetrack was an exciting experience for our students, who could not be more excited to come back next year & continue to learn one of Indy’s pillar organizations.
