Hearing Screening

Hearing is important to your child’s ability to learn and to progress at school. The state mandates that schools provide hearing screenings for Grades 1, 4, 7, and 10, new students to our school system (transferred students) as well as any student that a teacher has concerns about their hearing. If you are the parent of a student who is doing home learning and are interested in coming in person for a screening, please email cont7l 6rr@myips.org or call 317-886-8120 to schedule a time. Home hearing screenings will be completed on Wednesdays.

This hearing screening is a very simple procedure and will take only a few minutes. COVID Precautions will be used, including social distancing and materials will be cleaned using disinfecting wipes between each screening. If you do not want your child to participate in the screening, please let your child’s teacher know, in writing, prior to the screening date.

If your child is absent or has difficulty with the hearing screening test, we will recheck him/her in 2-4 weeks and will notify you if there is a continued concern. You will not be notified if they pass the screening.
