Now in its third year, IPS Week (Oct. 4-8) includes fun-filled days celebrating the ways in which the district is Proud to be Public. The week features events not only for IPS students and staff, but is also open to families, alumni, and community partners and supporters.
This year’s theme is “Revitalizing Spirit.”

Kicking Things Off
The Indianapolis canal will be dyed blue Monday, Oct. 4, to kickoff IPS Week, a weeklong series of events celebrating Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS).
On Monday, IPS Superintendent Dr. Aleesia Johnson will welcome representatives from the district’s schools as well as several community leaders to the Canal Walk, (Ohio Street basin), 421 W. Ohio. St., at 9 a.m. to kick off IPS Week.
Joining Dr. Johnson for the kick-off will be Mayor Joe Hogsett, City-County Council President Vop Osili, along with several IPS Board of School Commissioners.
Participants are encouraged to wear masks and socially distance themselves during the event.
IPS Blue Day
IPS Superintendent Dr. Aleesia Johnson will turn the Indianapolis canal blue to kick off IPS Week and IPS Blue Day.
Throughout this day, IPS staff, students, families, community partners and more are asked to wear something blue (if you have IPS blue, even better) in support of the district. Just remember to take pictures and share on social media.

Equity in Education Day
Equity is one of the district’s four strategic priorities, so what better way to celebrate IPS Week then focusing on equity in our district.
The IPS Foundation is excitedly launching an Education Equity grant program specifically for IPS schools/programs. More details will be shared on Monday, Oct. 4.
Also on Tuesday, follow IPSSchools on Facebook and Twitter as we highlight some of the ways IPS is focused on equity.

Community Service Day
Highlighting the ways in which the district’s partners, students, staff and families are giving back to IPS and the community is the focus of Community Service Day.
Also on this day, one of our longtime community partners will be making a special donation for a special group of people within the IPS family. We can’t wait to reveal what and who it is.
